I thought I had experienced a rather challenging year so far in 2010. My business has been quiet and although I would not want to buy into the fear of the economic recession propaganda, certainly, my clients and students have been keeping their hands in their pockets. Of course, I began to wonder if what I was offering, my Tarot, my Reiki, my workshops etc., were not up to standard or were boring or whatever. I was slowly losing my confidence as after 5 months of looking for a part time job, I had not been contacted by one company.
Then another disaster struck. At 6.30am on Thursday 29th April, I received a desperate call from my 19 year old daughter. She had been locked into her friend’s place when he left to go to his job at a bakery in the early hours. Not wanting to suffer Dad’s annoyance (she lives with him, not me) and needing to get to work at 8am, she had climbed out of the only window she could open, being the upstairs bathroom in a townhouse and climbed out, dropping to the uneven pavers below. She fractured both calcaneous bones in her heels. I made the trip from Burleigh to Nerang in 20minutes (thank you angels for making sure there were no cops watching my neck breaking speed) and started giving her Reiki immediately as she was in agony. The news at the hospital was not great. My head was in a whirl. Danielle would be in half plasters on both legs until the risk of swelling subsided and would have to keep her legs elevated above her heart during that time. Then she would receive proper plaster casts for a minimum of four weeks, followed by physio and crutches. Under no circumstances was she allowed to put any weight on her feet during that 6 week period.
For a super social 19 year old who spends three days at University in Brisbane, two days working on the Coast and the rest of the time being a social butterfly all over the place, this was not great news. Worse yet, her Dad would not take any time off work, so already compromised with income, I now had to quit work to care for my daughter 24/7 and move her into my 2 bedroom apartment with my other daughter and myself!
That was when the magic started to happen. At the hospital, the day after her admittance, the nurses said she was dreaming if she thought she would be going home that day. She would be in for the weekend. Reiki is a fantastic modality to bring in the power of positive thinking and Danielle and I zoned in on our homeward journey. That afternoon, three nurses and a physio were racing around getting everything organised and we were on the way home.
MIRACLE 1: An offer to collect wheelchairs, leg supports, commodes etc. As we pulled into the drive, there is all the equipment waiting for us!
MIRACLE 2: a friend made ramps within 24 hours for all the little steps in my apartment.
Last week was a whirlwind week of sleep deprivation, new routines and total upheaval of our life style. I remember looking out at the beach, where I normally walk every day, having no time to on this day, and seeing the beauty of it with new eyes. It gave me a new appreciation of the freedom of my normal life, when I could spend a little time in that beautiful space each day.
The other nagging feeling was that I had to move out of my apartment in four weeks time and now, even if only for the first two weeks, it had to accommodate three persons instead of two and have wheelchair access!
Danielle had been a willing recipient of Reiki every day since her accident and we were reducing her pain relief quite substantially. She experienced hardly any swelling and became much more her usual bubbly self after her Reiki treatments. She could feel the immense energy of the Karuna Reiki symbols when I worked on her in hospital and once back home I used gentle and short treatments on her. I also added her to my Reiki Healing Grid which I activate each day. It has a growing list of people who are asking for healing to sell businesses, heal cancer and other diseases, and for many more of life’s challenges.
MIRACLE 3: On the Tuesday evening, I wearily checked in with my laptop, wishing I could go to bed with a good book rather than start home hunting. Eureka! In the very building I was living in, an apartment had just been listed three floors below. The next morning, I viewed it, filled out the application, placed the address and my positive affirmation on the Reiki Grid. By Thursday morning it was mine and the moving date is one day before I was due to move out of my current place. Manifesting beautifully.
MIRACLE 4: Yesterday, we set off to Southport hospital to get the legs x-rayed and the new plasters fitted. After an excruciating wait we got into x-ray. I was looking at the films as they came up on the screen, as I was standing with the two radiographers. “I can’t see the fracture in the right foot” I said and the radiographer replied “neither can I”. So they took a few different angles to make sure they picked everything up. When the doctor saw the x-rays he announced that a tight elastic bandage was all that would be required on the right ankle and a boot on the other foot. The physiotherapist is now scheduled to train her to use crutches whilst walking on the ball of her right foot only. That will be another miracle!
MIRACLE 5: After all these months of looking for part time work, a perfect job suddenly appears, and because the owner had employed me previously he is happy to hold the job open until I can sort out care arrangements for Danielle.
And the miracles keep on coming, too numerous to mention here but you get the idea.
The moral of this true story is that no matter how challenged we feel with the problems that life puts in our path, there are always miracles to be found, especially when we keep getting back into a positive mind frame. The Universal wisdom is there to support us at all times but when life gets difficult we forget that. We all do the victim mode from time to time. I am a Master of it!! But more and more, it is being shown to me that life will always be fraught with challenges as they are the tools with which we grow! If it was all plain sailing, what would be the point of this experience of life that we chose? so look for the blessings, look for the miracles, expect them, demand them. We are all so deserving of ease and grace, but we have to ask!
I seem to remember, a few weeks back, thinking it would be so nice to spend a bit more time with my busy, busy 19 year old daughter. I guess we always get what we ask for but not always in the way we think!! the moral? Be careful what you ask for!!!
