Insights on the Journey

Written by Jacky

This part of the journey has been very challenging but also very rewarding.  The challenges were mostly on Gerry’s part so I will leave him to share that.

We did not know the area but soon realised we were surrounded by beautiful places like Torquay and Newport.

As we were only here for 8 days, it was a whistlestop tour! But there was starting to be some warmth in the sun which was such a welcome respite from the Victorian weather.

Reacher and Trixie were our new charges. Reacher, a rescue dog, mixed breed, that Gerry decided was a Tasmanian Tiger. but no tiger by nature. Although he looked intimidating, he was so well behaved and the sweetest nature.  Affectionate and loyal and so excited when the ball was thrown.

Trixie was a rather unfriendly cat on day one, quite old and stayed in the owner’s bedroom for most of the day. But once I found her brush, she showed up regularly to stand in a cardboard box, purring her head off and loving the attention. She transformed into a very friendly and loveable pussycat.  As can be seen from the photo, we ended up all four of us in bed!

While Gerry went out and did his thing each day, I was computer and website bound. Creating lots of content and getting familiar with the back end!!

We also had a great yoga space and filmed some classes here as well as going live.

Excursions: Manly and the North Shore; catching up with Richard and Gaby in Randwick with a quick trip to Bondi to see the Sculpture Festival; (we enjoyed so much sharing time with them over a late lunch that we came back for dinner!) Newport Beach on a really warm day; also taking in the Mind, Body, Spirit Festival. Gerry also surprised me by taking me for a rather romantic dinner in Brooklyn.  We were right by the water at a glorified fish and chip shop being serenaded by a really cool guitar player and vocalist. an unexpected treat with delicious fish.

And then time to move on to our next House sit in Central Coast.
